Due to the age of the building, storefront, and barrel roof, the existing caulking around the framing perimeters, in addition to the rubber glazing gaskets around the windows, had begun to shrink and fail, leaving large voids for water to penetrate. We scheduled the work, which required renting a large boom lift to reach all the problem areas of the job. We caulked all the voids between the storefront framing and building as well as all the glass to framing. We also had to address the barrel roof, which is a fiberglass material with sealant strips between each panel rib. This was especially tricky and dangerous working in this environment, but we re-sealed all the ribs with special roofing sealant tape as well as liquid sealant and caulk around the perimeter that met the lower roof substrate. Our customer was so pleased with how this sealed their building that they went on to have us tend to a couple of their other locations in East Hanover and Mountainside, NJ as well as one of their locations in Vestal, NY.
